SJP IS VERY PROUD TO HAVE HAD BOB PART OF OUR ORGANIZATION. THE RECOGNITION IS WELL DESERVED.

CN Railroader in the Community Bob Fisher spends several hundred hours volunteering year-round for the South Jasper place Minor Baseball Association, even though the playing season itself is quite short – from May to August.
Bob, a 23-year CN veteran who is the officer Crew Scheduling, Resource Management, is also the league’s senior registrar. he oversees nearly 600 players and 100 coaches by attending monthly executive meetings, maintaining the organization’s database and team rosters, and being a liaison with other board members.
Bob’s baseball association recently received a grant from the CN Railroaders in the
Community program. “it’s fantastic that CN provides these funds,” he says. “this
grant helps us buy equipment and to keep our registration prices as low as we can.”
in further recognition of his volunteer work, Bob was one of several CN em
ployees who were proud medal bearers in the Rick hansen 25th Anniversary relay.
Bob participated in the March 12th relay.
Bob, the father of three, began coaching baseball six years ago, and has also coached basketball and soccer.
“last year there were 587 boys and girls, aged 5 to 18, enrolled in our baseball program,” says Bob. “it’s really important to provide these sporting opportunities to kids, and also teach them other life skills, like learning how to get along with others, leadership, and enjoying the camaraderie that goes with being on a team.”
Dan Rude, president of the Association, notes that Bob never hesitates to pitch
in. “Without Bob’s generosity and willingness to participate, many youths would
not have had the opportunity to play minor baseball,” says Dan.
Last season, Bob finally fulfilled a wish to coach all three of his children, in
cluding his son Tyler, who is now a CN Rail traffic Controller. “i hope that my
example of coaching is something he pursues in his future, too.”
